I arrived in Reading on November 11th to begin my month-long secondment in the Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences at the University of Reading.

I found Reading a very youthful city with a large campus. The people in the department were very nice and friendly people, it was a very interesting experience, where I learned a lot!

The research consisted of the extraction of polyphenols from waste material, in my case from dehydrated and fresh grape skins from the Casa Emma winery, through the CGA. After that, I had to analyze the various samples obtained from the CGA and check the number of polyphenols.

I also had the chance to visit several cities like Bath, where the Roman baths are located, Windsor where the royal family’s palace is, Oxford, and London. It has an unforgettable month.
