WELCOME to Valencia!
My three-month secondment gave me the unique and fantastic opportunity to have an international experience in a company – Bioinicia S.L. and live in Valencia-Spain. During these months, I have had the opportunity to work at Bioinicia within the FODIAC project, mainly in Capsultek® technology – an innovative process for encapsulating active ingredients at room temperature. This experience allowed me to learn new skills related to my scientific interests, the possibility of working in pilot-scale equipment and seeing a real scenario of a processing and production line of functional extracts. Additionally, I was very well received and accompanied throughout the stay by colleagues from Bioinicia, namely Emma Talón Argente. I also had the opportunity to perform some research studies of the microparticles at IATA-CSIC, supervised by Cristina Prieto and Zoran Evtoski, to whom I want to leave my great thanks for all the support. I must also thank José Lagaron for allowing me to have this secondment in his company and in the IATA-CSIC lab. The work in Bioinicia was great since it fulfilled my expectations. Everyone was very welcoming and available to help me every time and to share some nice moments outside of work.
There is life after work…
Valencia it’s a surprising city with beautiful gardens and nice weather. The gastronomic culture and the traditions in this city are amazing! Also, there are a lot of cultural places and monuments to visit. Starting the Christmas season in this city made me even more in love with Valencia ❤️ Furthermore, I had the opportunity to spend this amazing secondment with my co-worker Sofia Sousa!
Final Remarks!
The Orange trees are a regular presence in Valencia street and a shelter for the hottest days of the year thanks to the shade they provide – they are the brand image of Valencia. This is very special to me since my PhD is focused on developing an integrative & sustainable process to valorize the orange processing by-products.
My secondment under the Fodiac Project – Marie Curie action represented high-status funding and a great chance to increase my hard & soft skills and networking in both scientific and industrial areas. Meeting new people, cities and labs/companies are one of my favourite things to do, especially from other countries, since it allows me to obtain more diversified experiences related to cultural and social aspects as well as scientific and enterprise areas. Therefore, I would like to thank the Fodiac team for their support and acceptance!
