Secondment of Paula Jauregui from University of Reading (UK) to SONAE (PT) (4th-12th September 2018)
Dr Paula Jauregi (PJ) visited Sonae (Tiago Costa Oliveira) where she gave a presentation on the research activities of UOR related to the Fodiac project and her secondment. Tiago gave an overview on the business and research activities by SONAE and discussed possible food waste residues generated by SONAE which can become a source of polyphenols for the FODIAC project. PJ also visited SONAE’s hypermarket Continente and the warehouse at the headquarters where she met Pedro Lago, responsible for sustainability and circular economy.
The secondment also included a visit to the University of Minho (Prof Jose Texeira) and the INL (Prof Lorenzo Pastrana.).
She attended the 12 th European Symposium of Biochemical Engineering Sciences ESBES 2018, in Lisbon , 9-12 September, where she gave a talk within the topic ‘Biobased economy and sustainable bioprocessing’.
