My secondment under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions represented a prestigious type of funding and I undoubtedly see it as a fundamental step in the progression of my scientific career. In particular, the FODIAC project provided me with the right conditions to perform first class research in a real industrial environment. I was working on the design and development of food-grade biopolymer capsules, performing preliminary tests with novel encapsulating materials, from the laboratory to the industrial scale. This study strongly inspired me many ideas on how to design better performance materials according to the technical requirements of the industrial process. Additionally, it gave me the chance to have the wonderful experience of living abroad and even allowed me to bring my family to such a fascinating area like the North of Portugal
